LYDIA, SC (WMBF) - One man is facing charges after police say he shot a man during an argument.

Capt. Andy Locklair with the Darlington County Sheriff's Office says the argument began shortly after 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10 on Heritage Drive in Lydia.

The suspect, 49-year-old Billy Covington, was arguing with the victim when he pulled out a gun and shot him.

The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment but their current condition is unknown.

Covington was arrested near the area a short time after the shooting took place and charged with attempted murder, pointing and presenting firearms at a person and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Bond was denied to Covington during a bond hearing over the weekend.
