Moped driver dies in crash on Enterprise Rd.

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - One moped driver is dead after a crash on Enterprise Road Monday night.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol reports the moped driver was traveling on Enterprise Road around 10:30 p.m. Monday when it ran off the side of the road and struck a guard rail.

The driver, which was not wearing a helmet, was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The Horry County Coroner's Office identified the driver as 34-year-old Patrick Carey of Surfside Beach. He succumbed to his injuries at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center around 3:23 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
