SOUTH CAROLINA (WMBF) - Schools throughout the Palmetto State received their report cards Tuesday as data was released concerning graduation rates, as well as performance and growth ratings.
The South Carolina Department of Education reports the state as a whole has bettered itself in on-time graduation rates at 74.9% as compared to last year's 73.6%. While the all student graduation rate is at its highest since 2008 for the state, it is still below the 78% reached in 2003.
Four South Carolina high schools posted 100% graduation rates: Academic Magnet High School in Charleston County, Lamar High School and Mayo High School for Math and Science both in Darlington County, and Greenville Technical Charter High School in Greenville County.
"Growth is good, but the fact remains one out of every four high school students won't graduate on-time or eventually drop-out of school. We can do far better as a state and past experience proves we can," said State Superintendent of Education Mick Zais.
If your child attends school in Horry County, you can view that school's individual report released from the SCDE. Ratings for some Horry County schools are displayed below.
