Woman avoids abduction on Florence street

Posted: Updated:

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - Police in Florence are on the lookout after a female pedestrian claims four men tried to abduct her Sunday afternoon.

Major Carlos Raines with the Florence Police Department says the woman was walking in the grassy median that divides Madison Avenue when a burgundy Dodge Neon pulled up at the stop sign.

The woman continued to walk past the vehicle in the opposite direction, but several yards later she heard the car doors open and looked back to see four black males exit the car.

The driver, Raines said, reportedly had a handgun, and the men were calling out to the woman.

The woman ran away and began to dial 911 on her cell phone, which she believes caused the men to get back in their car and drive off.

The suspects' car was noted to be without a license tag. If you have any information about this incident or the suspect vehicle, contact Florence Police.
