FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - United States District Judge R. Bryan Harwell sentenced 36-year-old Shawna Michelle Holmes of Longs for charges associated with embezzling more than $1 million.

Holmes appeared in a federal court in Florence for use of an unauthorized access device and aggravated identity theft.

Holmes was employed by Bargain Beachwear in Myrtle Beach from August 2006 until September 2010. During her employment Holmes used eight of the business's credit cards and one of the co-owner's credit cards without authorization.

Holmes added her name to the credit cards and made charges for personal items, including 10 vehicles, a health club membership and the payment of her husband's taxes. Holmes altered Bargain Beachwear's records to make charges appear as inventory purchases.

Holmes' actions resulted in over $1 million in losses, according to a press release by the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Holmes was sentenced to 81 months imprisonment, three years supervised release and ordered her to pay around $1.2 million in restitution.
