Grand Strand to welcome 2 Moe's Southwest Grill Restaurants

Posted: Updated:

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) By Summer 2013, Grand Strand residents can expect to see at least two new Moe's Southwest Grill restaurants. One will be located in North Myrtle Beach in a former bank building near Barefoot Landing. Another one will sit in a currently empty lot right in front of the new Target that sits at the intersection of Highway 544 and 17-Bypass in Horry County.

Clif Bullard is the president of The Bullard Restaurant Group, the company who owns the two Moe's Southwest Grill restaurants that are coming to the area.  Bullard said he chose these locations because at any given time, there are several thousand people in the area.

"Even though the demographic shows 30-35,000 permanent residents, I would dare say there's very rare times when, maybe never, there'd be less than 75,000 people in the market. I don't care if it's January the 10th, there's probably 75,000 people in Myrtle Beach," Bullard said.

Julie Huntley owns JC Liquors, a business that sits down the street from the new Moe's location off Highway 544. She said all the businesses that are popping up in the area lately is a good thing for her store that has been open for four years.

"I was here when there was a lot of empty spaces in this complex alone. And even down the road a little bit there were a lot of empty spaces. So, now I think it's growing," Huntley said.

Jason Rogers owns Little Pigs Bar-B-Q, a quaint restaurant also down the road from the new Moe's location. Rogers said he also welcomes new businesses coming into the area because it brings more people to his restaurant.

"You don't have to be on the bypass and all, like some of the bigger places do. We got a good following. All we have to be is convenient for people and right here on 544, it's a nice simple rush hour spot but it's not overly congested," Rogers said.

The Moe's in North Myrtle Beach is expected to open by Christmas 2012. The Moe's near the new Target is expected to open by Summer 2013.
