Hazmat team clears scene of overturned 18 wheeler

GREEN SEA, SC (WMBF) - A tractor trailer crash in Green Sea had a driver trapped in a vehicle and gasoline leaking onto the roadway.

Leslie Yancey, Spokesperson for Horry County Fire Rescue, confirms there is an overturned 18-wheeler at Green Sea Road and Church Road in Green Sea Tuesday afternoon.

Yancey adds the crash did involve an entrapment, and that one person has been transported to Loris Hospital.

A hazmat team was sent to the crash when it was discovered that the 18-wheeler was leaking gasoline onto the roadway.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol website documents the crash occurring at 11 a.m. Tuesday and lists the wreck as involving injuries.

Drivers are asked to avoid Green Sea Road and Church Road in Green Sea until the wreck can be cleared.
