GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Monday morning, as many begin another work week, 20 workers of the Georgetown Steel Mill are without a job.
According to local union leaders, they had to let go of 20 people, which brings the total number of people employed at the mill, under 200.
The Georgetown plant is owned by the world's largest steel producer, Arcelor Mittal, who bought the plant five years ago.
Back in 2009 the mill stopped production and laid off about 240 workers. It wasn't until early last year that the company re-opened.
