One person dead, one charged in Marion County shooting

MARION COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Just after midnight on Sunday, the Marion County Sheriff's office responded to a reported shooting on Ard Drive in Marion County.

Upon arrival, deputies found 22-year-old Joseph Blake Dozier with a single gunshot wound to the head.

The MCSO arrested 23-year-old Chad Nelson Strickland of Nichols for the shooting death of Dozier, and he is charged with Murder, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Violent Crime and Pointing or Presenting a Firearm.

Strickland has been booked into the Marion County Detention Center. No further details on the motive of the shooting are available at this time. We will bring you updates as they become available.
