Golden Spikes: North Myrtle Beach Wins First State Title

LEXINGTON, S.C. - The North Myrtle Beach girls volleyball team has put the finishing touches on a 30-1 record in 2012 and brought home the school's first state title in the sport this weekend.

The Lady Chiefs fell 25-21 in the first set against Pickens High school, marking the team's only loss the entire postseason. However, led by Taylor Allman and her 18 kills, the team went on to win the next three to capture the 3A crown by scores of 25-18, 25-17 and 25-9.

After finishing the regular season 25-1, the Lady Chiefs swept Darlington, James Island and Hanahan. Then did the same against Airport, giving the school its first ever lower state volleyball championship, to go along with this the state championship won on Saturday.
