Conway's Mykal Moody named SC Mr. Football finalist

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - Conway senior quarterback Mykal Moody has been named one of five finalists for this year's South Carolina Mr. Football award, given annually to the top high school football player in the state.

Joining Moody as finalists are Goose Creek's Tramel Terry, Byrnes' Akia Booker, TL Hanna's Ben Boulware and Strom Thurmond's Darius Hammond.

Moody has had a sensational career with the Tigers. This season he has racked up over 2,300 total yards and 36 total touchdowns.  This on the heels of a junior season is which he passed for 1,519 yards and ran for 1,490 more, while scoring 47 total touchdowns.

The last player from the Grand Strand to be named Mr. Football was Myrtle Beach's JD Melton in 2004.  In fact, the last four players to receive the award have gone on to play football for the South Carolina Gamecocks.

This year's Mr. Football will be announced on Friday, December 7th at Myrtle Beach High School.
