MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - One candidate for the new 7th Congressional District is looking to social media to gain your vote, and he's using a catchy tune to get your attention.
The music video 'Vote For Him Maybe' was uploaded to YouTube Monday, just one week before election day.
Supporters of the GOP candidate Tom Rice use the song Call Me Maybe to get their message out to voters. Though it starts off a little slow as we watch someone munching on a Rice Crispy treat (see what they did there?), supporters soon break out in song asking if you'll vote for him maybe?
One line of the song says, "This new seat is open, and we are all hoping' that soon Gloria will be moping, so let's get to voting."
The video features supporters on the phone, campaigning door to door, and there's even a cat.
Tom Rice's opponent Dr. Gloria Bromell Tinubu has also taken to social media to campaign, but has most recently posted short videos explaining her views on the issues.
What do you think of the video? Does incorporating social media into the campaign influence or sway your vote. Tell us what you think on the WMBF News Facebook fan page.
