MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – John Dwayne Dixon, Jr. was sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to assault charges in circuit court, according to court records. He reportedly stabbed a man in broad daylight on Ocean Boulevard in October 2012.

The fight began in an airbrush shop on the 900 block of North Ocean Boulevard, and escalated from verbal into physical exchanges, reports state. The two men involved took their disagreement onto the street where several witnesses tried to break them up.

The victim walked away down Ocean Boulevard to get away from his alleged attacker, but the suspect followed him to the Visitors Center and they began to fight again.

That's when the victim realized he'd been stabbed in the stomach. The suspect fled the scene, and the victim stumbled back to his airbrush shop for help.

When police arrived, the many witnesses told them what happened and said they saw the suspect run into the Candy Castle. According to the report, the suspect ran to a nearby bar when approached by police, where he was taken into custody.

The suspect, 35-year-old John Dwayne Dixon Jr., was charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Earlier this month, he pleaded guilty to aggravated assault charges and was sentenced to four years in prison.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
