MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Myrtle Beach Police have made two arrests in an armed robbery reported in the Booker T. Washington neighborhood Monday morning, and connected those suspects to a previous crime.

The incident occurred on the 1400 block of King Street around 10:45 a.m. Monday for what Captain David Knipes tells WMBF News was originally reported as a carjacking.

On scene, the victim told police he offered two suspects a ride to King Street. When they arrived there, the victim was drug from his vehicle into a wooded area and shot at.

"In our neighborhood, if someone wants to do something or get away from the police, they'll try to hide in the neighborhood," said Myrtle Beach City Councilman Michael Chestnut.

Councilman Chestnut works with community watches in the Booker T. Washington District, where the carjacking occurred.

He says too many incidents happen in the area because of neighbors' hesitancy to call authorities.

"A lot of people don't want to get involved," he said. "They're afraid someone will come after him."

The victim reports the suspects forcibly took personal items from him and from his car, which was later found near 30th Avenue South in Atlantic Beach.

Horry County Police officers took the two suspects, 18-year-old Ancel Ramon Harris and 26-year-old Krystal Elaine Cox, into custody to be charged for their role in this crime.

According to Captain Knipes, their investigation revealed that Cox and Harris were also involved in the strong armed robbery of the General Store on the 200 block of South Ocean Boulevard on October 11.

Both suspects are charged with attempted murder, strong armed robbery and carjacking. Bond for each has been set at $555,000 as the duo await trial.
