Chants Drop Fourth Straight, Fall to Stony Brook

CONWAY – The 11th-ranked Stony Brook Seawolves rushed for 307 yards, but recovered a fumble with under two minutes to play as Coastal Carolina was driving to hold on for a 27-21 win Saturday afternoon at Brooks Stadium. 

Coastal was led by senior Aramis Hillary who went 23-36 on passing attempts for 271 yards and a touchdown. Senior Jeremy Height rushed for a team-high 89 yards on 15 carries while scoring a pair of touchdowns. Junior DeMario Bennett caught six balls for 91 yards and a touchdown while junior Matt Hazel had six catches for 98 yards.

Miguel Maysonet led the Seawolves rushing for a career-high 233 yards, including runs of 64 and 58, surpassing his previous high of 220 which he had against Army earlier this season. Quarterback Kyle Essington connected on 10-of-13 passing attempts for 181 yards and two touchdowns while Kevin Norrell led the receiving corps with seven catches for 127 yards and a touchdown.

The loss moves Coastal to 2-4 on the year and 0-1 in Big South play. The Chants take to the road on Saturday, October 20th when they will face VMI.
