FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - Investigators have made a second arrest in the shooting death of a Darlington man outside of a Florence County bar in October 2012.
According to the Florence County Sheriff's Office, 27-year-old Junior Lee Johnson of Darlington was fatally shot while leaving a bar on East Lynch River Road on the morning of October 12, 2012.
Ten days later, investigators arrested Erick Simon and charged him with accessory before the fact of a felony.
Now nine months after the fatal shooting, the sheriff's office has arrested and charged 22-year-old Deontra Rasheem McFadden of Lamar with murder.
Patricia Pompey lived down the road from the bar, and expressed her concerns to WMBF News after the shooting took place.
"We heard some shots, it was probably about five or six shots all right behind one another and we just afraid because we never hear shots like this over here," Pompey explained. "It's a quiet neighborhood."
Pompey was worried for his daughter and her grandchildren. The sounds were so loud she thought someone was shooting at her house.
"And we saw the police lights and the rescue squad going to the club so I said 'Somebody must have gotten hurt or shot or something,'" Pompey recalled.
Pompey said the bar has never had any incidents like this before.
"Sometimes they have birthday parties and then sometimes they are just hanging out because there's not that many cars out there," she said. "This is the first time I've ever seen anything like this happen. It's always quiet."
