MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - South Carolina is one step closer to having a voter ID law in place now that a federal court overturned an earlier decision by the Justice Department.
Consider This: The right to vote is one of the most important rights we have in this country. Protecting the accuracy of that vote is equally important.
Critics of the new plan debate that voter fraud under the current system is minimal so why change it. I would counter that if the new plan eliminates any voter fraud then it has merit and is a welcome improvement.
And for people who complain that the new law disenfranchises certain groups of voters, there are several photo identification options, including FREE Voter ID cards, so that the process isn't burdensome.
The new law doesn't discriminate against certain groups of voters; it merely makes sure South Carolina elections reflect the integrity of one of the most valued rights we have as Americans.
