16-year-old wanted in connection to armed robbery

LAURINBURG, NC (WMBF) - The Laurinburg Police Department has one suspect in custody and is searching for the second person they believe is responsible for an armed robbery.

Police have arrested Joshua Adam Grooms, 25, of Laurinburg, and charged him with one count of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, possession of a weapon of mass destruction, and possession of a firearm by felon.

The second suspect police are attempting to locate is 16-year-old Calvin Platt. Platt is a black male with a last known address on Hunter Drive in Laurinburg, however he may have moved to a residence on Bunch Road in Laurel Hill, NC.

Officials say Grooms plotted with Platt to rob a particular victim. Police did not elaborate on who the victim is or the relation between the victim and the two suspects.

Grooms was also wanted by Probation/Parole for violating his probation.

Platt faces charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a weapon of mass destruction, possession of a firearm by a minor, assault by pointing a gun, and conspiracy to commit robbery. Police have not released a photo of Platt to the public at this time.
