FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - A man booked on murder charges is now facing time for a burglary that police say occurred a matter of hours before the fatal shooting.

Nineteen-year-old Lontorrio Ali McKenzie of Lake City was booked into the Florence County Detention Center Thursday afternoon to face charges after his uncle was fatally shot in an altercation Thursday morning.

When he got there, the Florence County Sheriff's Office was prepared to add second degree burglary to the list of charges for a break-in at a Lake City home on Wednesday before the murder was reported.

Captain Michael Nunn, spokesman for the Florence County Sheriff's Office, tells WMBF News that McKenzie's accomplice was caught at the scene of the reported burglary but McKenzie got away.

Thadeus Bernard Brayboy, 19, of Lake City was arrested and charged with burglary. Both suspects are being held at the Florence County Detention Center on $15,000.00 surety bonds for the burglary charges.

It's unknown if anything was taken from the Lake City home.
