FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - Crews are working to clear debris from the roadway after wood chips on a tractor trailer were set aflame on Interstate 95.
Captain Anthony Fox with the West Florence Fire Department says crews were called to the 158 mile marker of Interstate 95 around 2:45 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
On arrival, they found wood chips in the trailer of an 18 wheeler had caught on fire, and given the location of the fire, a large portion of the load had to be removed from the truck's trailer.
Fox reports firefighters used 5,000 gallons of water and fire retardant foam to douse the flames. Crews were still trying to clear debris from the roadway just before 6 p.m.
