Power restored in NMB after early morning outage

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF)- Thousands of customers in North Myrtle Beach were without power for over an hour Saturday morning.

The outage occurred at 7:48 a.m., leaving 3,525 Santee Cooper customers without power, according to Nicole Aiello.

Aiello tells WMBF News that the power was restored by 9 a.m., and the outage occurred when a squirrel caused a transformer in the Crescent Beach substation to go down.

No more issues are expected due to the outage.
