Florence family displaced after accidental fire

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - A Florence family is displaced after an early morning blaze burned a portion of their home Friday.

At 1 a.m. the West Florence Fire Department was dispatched to 1025 Mockingbird Circle for a reported house fire.

According to Captain Anthony Fox with the West Florence Fire Department, the Florence County Sheriff's Office was also on scene. Units arrived at the home shortly after the call was received and found heavy smoke showing from a two story single family house.

Firefighters entered the home and found flames coming from a bonus room above the garage. The fire was placed under control in about 90 minutes.

West Florence Firefighters also located and removed three cats from the home during the fire.

Florence County EMS along with firefighters from the City of Florence, Howe Springs Fire Department, and Darlington County Fire Department responded to the blaze.

There were no injurers reported and damage was limited to the one section of the home.  The family was displaced as a result of the fire and the cause of the fire was determined to be an accident.
