Police launch homicide investigation in Robeson Co.

ROBESON, COUNTY (WMBF) -The man murdered near Maxton, North Carolina was found by his neighbor early Wednesday morning.

The man, identified as 44-year-old Timothy Ray McCutcher, was found dead inside his home, off of Hwy 130. His neighbor, a long time friend, walked into the victim's house around 7:30 a.m.

It was something he did every morning after bringing his son to school, and thought it was odd the McCuther wasn't up yet when he came over. He found his friend's body, surrounded by blood, and called 911.

"We received a call from the 911 center around 7:30 this morning, when deputies entered the house they found the victim dead on scene, with blood around him," says Sheriff Kenneth Sealey, with the Robeson County Sheriff's Department.

Police responded to the call Wednesday morning and are currently investigating the man's death in Robeson County. Sheriff Kenneth Sealey says they are canvassing the neighborhood, speaking to neighbors and witnesses to try to piece together what happened.

"Were still investigating, its early stages of the investigation so were interviewing neighbors and witnesses, canvassing the neighborhoods, trying to find out what we can find out, what did happen here," says Sheriff Kenneth Sealey.

"The medical examiner will release the body and we will move it to the hospital, where it will go through pathologists to find out the cause of death," says Sheriff Sealey.

The cause of death has not yet been released. While police are unsure how the man died, at this point, they are calling it a homicide investigation.
