Neighbors discover Maxton homicide victim

ROBESON COUNTY, NC (WMBF) - Deputies with the Robeson County Sheriff's Office are actively investigating an apparent homicide in the Maxton area.

Sheriff Kenneth Sealey confirms that deputies are investigating what appears to be a homicide in the Maxton community on the 12000 block of Highway 130.

Though witnesses tell WMBF News they saw the 44-year-old victim "fine and alive" at 1:30 a.m., the neighbor that went to wake him and take him to work Wednesday morning around 7:30 a.m. found him lying in bed surrounded by blood.

The identity of the victim is not being released at this time until next of kin can be notified, and authorities are still unsure exactly how he died.
