MARION, SC (WMBF) – Two men have been taken into custody in connection to a shooting on Rosewood Drive in Marion on Aug. 25.

City spokeswoman Dianne Owens tells the shooting was reported to officers and members of the county's combined drug unit conducting foot patrols on Rosewood Drive.

The incident report states that while officers were investigating, they heard more gunshots, some of which came from the area around them, and soon recovered a .22 caliber handgun, while detaining and interviewing witnesses.

The victim, a 24-year old man who had been shot in the shoulder, was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Nearly a month after the incident took place, Marion Police officers arrested 18-year-old Corey Dontray Rowell for attempted murder, pointing and presenting a firearm, discharging a firearm in the city limits and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime for his role in the shooting.

The second suspect, 24-year-old Tony Dewayne Rollins, was arrested and charged with first degree assault, discharging a firearm in the city limits and accessory after the fact to attempted murder.
