CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - The remains of the Aynor-Conway Meat Market left little evidence for Horry County Fire Rescue to determine the cause.

Crews from Horry County and Conway Fire Rescue responded to the structure fire off of Highway 501 in September. According to Assistant Fire Chief Justin L. Gibbons, it was a Category two fire and was already through the roof of the structure when they arrived on scene.

A section of Highway 501 near the meat market was shut down early that morning as crews worked to douse the flames.

Customers say the meat processing business had been a go-to spot for hunters in the western part of the county.

Horry County spokeswoman Lisa Bourcier says the fire investigators could not determine the cause of the fire.
