Missing 2-week-old found, parents in custody

Posted: Updated:

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Two parents are in custody after they were found hiding from law enforcement in a motel with their 2-week-old child.

Captain Michael Nunn, spokesman for the Florence County Sheriff's Office, tells WMBF News that 23-year-old Shannon Nicole Robinson of Florence and 23-year-old Jerry Ray Raynor of Timmonsville are wanted for the unlawful neglect of a child.

Robinson and Raynor's two-week-old infant was removed from DSS custody on or around Sept. 10. The child was in protective custody after the infant and both parents tested positive for illegal drugs.

Investigators from the Florence County Sheriff's Office and Clarendon County Sheriff's Office took Robinson and Raynor into custody on Friday at a motel near Manning, South Carolina.  Their 2-week-old child was also in the motel room.

Captain Nunn explains that both parents agreed to a safety plan with DSS to care for the child, but violated that when removing the infant from their care.

The infant appeared to be unharmed and is now in emergency protective custody pursuant to a Family Court Order.
