CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – A suspect wanted on a myriad of charges dating back to the beginning of the summer has been captured.

The Horry County Police Department released the following statement on their Facebook page Thursday night:

"The combined efforts of Horry County Police SWAT and Negotiations, Conway City Police and US Marshal Service has led to the capture of Donavon Curtis Johnson, wanted by HCPD for Murder. Details of the arrest will be released in the morning."

Catina Hipp, spokeswoman for the Conway Police Department, admits that the suspect, 19-year-old Donavon Curtis Johnson is wanted for attempted murder, burglary, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, possession of a firearm by certain persons unlawful and kidnapping for a crime that occurred on Maple Avenue on May 9.

During that incident, Conway Police were responding to a possible robbery to find a shooting victim bleeding inside the door of the home on Maple Avenue. The victim claimed he was walking out of his home when two black males approached him, pushed him inside, and shot him twice when he tried to leave.

On Wednesday, police were called to the area of Single and Whittemore Street around 1:30 a.m. where shots were reportedly fired to find Johnson hiding in the bushes.

Hipp explains that he jumped over a fence when approached by police, but they eventually caught up with Johnson near Wright Boulevard and he was placed under arrest.

At the time, Johnson was in possession of a backpack, a handgun, a mask, several sandwich bags and a green leafy substance.

He was transported to the police station for questioning about the shooting, and then when officers were placing him back in the patrol car to be taken to the detention center, Johnson fled. Johnson was wearing handcuffs when he escaped.

Police issued additional warrants for Johnson for the unlawful carrying of a firearm, possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, two counts of resisting arrest, possession of stolen property and petit larceny.

Sgt. Robert Kegler confirms that Donavon Johnson is also wanted for murder in connection to a Myrtle Beach man's death on Ronald McNair Boulevard in June.

Johnson is described to stand approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and weigh around 135 pounds.

Conway Police offered a $500 reward for information leading to Johnson's arrest.
