4,000 gallons of wastewater spill near Leland

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WMBF) - Approximately 4,000 gallons of untreated wastewater were discharged near Leland Tuesday.

The Brunswick County Public Utilities issued a statement on Tuesday regarding the accidental discharge, which was caused by a crack in a 10 inch force main sewer line on the 9100 block of Timber Lane near Giles Place in Leland.

The accidental spill allowed for the discharge of around 4,000 gallons of untreated wastewater. County personnel are working to contain the sewer spill and remove the wastewater, using lime to stabilize the area.
