MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The SC Department of Public Safety reports than after Labor Day weekend, the number of highway fatalities is much lower than those reported last year.
Only one driver was fatally injured between 6 p.m. on Friday, August 31 and midnight on Monday, Sept. 3. That puts the total of fatalities since January 1 at 528, thirty less than the 558 reported at this same time last year.
Of the 528 motor vehicle deaths so far this year, 212 were not wearing seatbelts.
The following are traffic fatalities by county for 2012:
Darlington – 10
Dillon – 7
Florence – 22
Georgetown – 10
Horry – 30
Marion – 5
