Power lines safely removed after near crash with school bus

GEORGETOWN, SC (WMBF) - An 18 wheeler trying to avoid a collision Wednesday afternoon escaped uninjured from a ditch, but not before power lines fell on a stopped school bus in the intersection.

Georgetown County Assistant Fire Chief Tony Hucks tells WMBF News that the bus was stopped at an intersection Wednesday afternoon on Saint Delights Road with a couple of other cars stopped behind the bus.

An 18 wheeler rounded a curve on Saint Delights Road approaching that intersection and, in an attempt to avoid striking those cars behind the bus, drove into the ditch. At some point, the power lines on the roadside were loosened and fell down on top of the bus.

Chief Hucks assures that the power lines were safely removed by the power company and no one was hurt in the crash.
