MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - How far would you drive to cash in a lottery ticket? One vacationer to Myrtle Beach made it home then turned around and drove all the way back to claim his prize.
It was a 720 mile drive home to New York from the sandy Grand Strand beaches where Eradio Marquez spent his week of relaxation, and purchased a $5 Pure Gold scratch-off from a Kangaroo Express on Highway 17 in North Myrtle Beach.
Once Marquez made it home, he realized he was a winner in a game that has 1 in 480,000 of winning $100,000, and he immediately turned around to make the 12 hour trip back to South Carolina.
After cashing in, Marquez told lottery officials he would like to visit South Carolina again. For selling the claimed ticket, Kangaroo Express #3069 in North Myrtle Beach received a commission of $1,000.
