FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A traffic checkpoint conducted near Florence-Darlington Technical College Friday night net several arrests and
captured two fugitives.
Florence County Sheriff's Office hosted the 12th Circuit Law
Enforcement Network and Fourth Circuit Law Enforcement Network jointing
conducting the stop at the Florence-Darlington county line on Highway 52.
Captain Michael Nunn, spokesman for the sheriff's office,
says over 150 law enforcement officers were on the scene for nearly five hours
checking the license and registration of over 900 motorists leaving Darlington
County.
The operation net the following charges, in addition to the
two fugitives that were captured:
1 – driving under the influence
7 - open container of alcohol
3 - vehicle license violations
1 - alcoholic beverage control violation
12 - driving under suspension
4 - driver's license violations
5 - possession of marijuana
2 - possession of other drugs
1 - other violations
"This was an amazing
operation featuring two top notch Networks working side by side with the same
goal; to reduce DUI and other traffic related fatalities," Sheriff Kenney Boone
stated.
"We will continue with these and other operations, especially with the
upcoming Labor Day Holiday approaching. Please join us in helping to make this Labor Day Holiday weekend one with no DUI or traffic
related fatalities," the sheriff adds.
