LITTLE RIVER, SC (WMBF) - Several hundred dollars. That's how much one teen was allegedly willing to pay to have someone kidnapped and killed.

Travis Dean Messer, 18, of Little River is being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on $20,000 bond, all because he was purportedly willing to have someone killed for much less.

The incident report from the North Myrtle Beach Department of Public Safety states that Messer began contacting someone in early July about kidnapping and murdering an unnamed individual.

Further text messages from Messer reportedly show he was willingly to pay when the task was completed. How much? "Several hundred dollars," the report states.

The victim and the person solicited to kidnap them both identified Messer as the suspect.

Messer was taken into custody on Friday afternoon and released less than six hours later. He has been charged with attempted murder, kidnapping and two charges of solicitation to commit a felony.
