Assault rifle, cocaine found in attempted murder suspect's home

DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A man wanted for allegedly shooting a man with an assault rifle was arrested by the US Marshals Service.

Captain Andy Locklair, spokesman for the Darlington County Sheriff's Office, explains that 36-year-old Derrick Lavonne Abraham was wanted in connection to a shooting on the 900 block of West Lynches River Road on June 28.

Investigators working the case report that Abraham entered the residence with the victim and then shot the man with an assault rifle. The victim, Locklair ensures, was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for the gunshot wound.

Abraham was arrested at a home on Una Road in Lamar on Tuesday, August 21 by the US Marshal Service accompanied by the Darlington County Sheriff's Office, Lee County, Florence County, Williamsburg County, and Hartsville Police.

A press release from the US Marshals Service states they searched the home after spotting narcotics in plain view when Abraham was arrested.

In the home authorities found and seized a fully loaded SKS rifle, a stolen Lorcin .25 caliber pistol, a Beretta .25 caliber pistol, approximately 36 grams of cocaine, 25 grams of crack cocaine, 45 grams of marijuana, and $1,200 cash.

Abraham was taken into custody and charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and criminal conspiracy.

He is also charged with trafficking in meth or cocaine base, possession in other controlled substance, and trafficking in cocaine, 28 grams or more.

Abraham is incarcerated at the Darlington County Detention Center under a $402,500 bond.
