HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A South Carolina Highway Patrol Officer was involved in a crash while sitting at a traffic light Wednesday morning in Loris.
Sgt. Sherri Smith with the Horry County Sheriff's Office says the crash involved three vehicles, including the trooper. The highway patrolman was noted to be walking and talking at the scene, but was transported to Loris Hospital by another officer as a precautionary measure.
The trooper was stopped at US-701 at the traffic light to make a left turn when the patrol car was hit from behind by another vehicle. As a result, a third car rear ended the second car.
The driver of the car that rear-ended the trooper was transported to Loris Hospital, but the condition of the driver was not immediately known.
Sgt. Smith says two Horry County Sheriff deputies worked the scene of the crash on US- 701 and Railroad Avenue, south of the railroad tracks. It was not noted if any charges will be filed in this incident.
