GEORGETOWN, SC (WMBF) The man accused of killing dogs in the Georgetown area may be behind bars, but he's not out of the spotlight.

Police say Bobby Joe McConnell has been receiving threats at his home address.

McConnell has been in jail since last month charged with the ill treatment of animals after police say he tied up three dogs and left them for the dead in a Georgetown canal.

According the police report from the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office, McConnell's ex-wife received the threatening letter at the home where Bobby stayed before his arrest.

The letter reads "We are watching you. We are waiting. And just when you think we have forgotten, We will come to your house. We will take you. We will do to you what you did to those dogs."

It's the second letter sent to the home since McConnell's arrest.

The report states the return address on the unsigned letters indicate they're from an animal shelter in Houston, Texas.
