HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A lot of students in the Pee Dee are heading back to school Monday morning and Horry County students head back to class on Wednesday.
And as we all know getting back into the groove of things can be tough.
Students may think the beginning of the school year is supposed to be the easiest, but teachers say it can actually be the hardest because the beginning of the year is when they get a feel for how their students are going to perform.
Teacher, Matthew Berger says, "The testing really starts where the teacher gets to really know the students, and they know what each particular student needs. "
Teachers also suggest that you get to know what your child needs when it comes to school.
Experts recommend you clear your schedule to be available for your kids as they adjust to the school year. They say you should do things like go over vocabulary words or pick up a book.
"It's very important for parents to continue to read with the children so they don't lose what they retained from last year," says teacher Angela Adderton.
It's not just the school work students will need your help with; they may need some nudging when it comes to going through the motions of the day.
There are two key things that will help get kids ready for this week suggests Adderton, "Going to sleep early is definitely a good thing, getting a good night's sleep and getting a good breakfast."
All good reminders as we kick off the school year.
