MARION COUNTY, SC (WMBF) Two people are dead after an early morning head-on collision in Marion County.
Lance Corporal Sonny Collins with the South Carolina Highway Patrol reports that the collision occurred around 4 a.m. Sunday when a 1995 Ford Crown Victoria and a 2008 Suzuki SUV crashed head-on in the Britton's Neck community.
Collins continues that the crash occurred on Highway 378 in Marion County, just two miles from the Horry County line.
The driver of the Crown Victoria, identified as Ronald Frenchshaw Davis Jr., was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Marion County Coroner Jerry Richardson tells WMBF News that Davis died from injuries sustained in the accident.
The driver of the Suzuki SUV was reported to be wearing a seatbelt and was transported to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center with injuries. The driver, 19-year-old Kelsey Mitchell Day, died a few hours later from the injuries she sustained in the crash, Coroner Richardson says.
There were no passengers in either vehicle.
The Highway Patrol's MAIT is continuing to investigate this collision to determine exactly what happened.
