MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A mother alerted police to the alleged sexual abuse of her children after they explained the babysitter had put his hands under their clothing.
The victim's mother explained to Myrtle Beach Police officers that her two daughter, both under the age of 11, told their grandmother that the babysitter had put his hands down their pants.
According to the report, 17-year-old Deterris Marquiz-Nequa Bellamy had cared for the two young girls at the apartment in which they lived about one month prior to when the alleged crime was reported. The mother explained to officers that her daughters had never spoke of the incident until August 10, the day she contacted police.
The mother went on the tell officers that the victims knew Bellamy through a former friend. In addition, the mother claimed that her daughters told her they were afraid to tell anyone about what happened.
The police report details that the two young victims told the suspect "no" and left the room to go play somewhere else when he put his hands down their pants and touched them inappropriately, as stated by the girls' mother.
Bellamy is charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct and is currently booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
