HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Drivers across the Grand Strand should be prepared to see more South Carolina Troopers on the roads as they kick off their Sober or Slammer campaign.
According to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, officers will begin the Sober or Slammer, Labor Day DUI crackdown campaign Thursday.
The campaign will begin Thursday morning at 9:30 a.m. with a bell ringing ceremony to remember victims of DUI crashes. Following the ceremony, a 10 a.m. news conference will detail how the campaign will be enforced and bring public awareness to the effort.
Thursday's events will be held at the South Carolina Statehouse on Gervais Street in Columbia.
