Conway woman in jail for tax form fraud

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) Investigators with the SC Department of Revenue arrested a Conway woman on several tax charges Wednesday.

Samantha Cheek, spokeswoman for SC Department of Revenue, explains that 29-year-old Connie Livingston was taken into custody at J. Reuben Long Detention Center for forgery, assisting in the preparation of a false return and conspiracy.

Those charges, Cheek details, stem from an investigation into Livingston's 2011 tax returns during which she admitted to providing false information. Livingston apparently received a $567 refund she was not entitled to after claiming to fulfill a job for an employer she did not in fact work for.

The investigation further concluded that Livingston paid a fee for the false tax forms.

Livingston could face penalties of up to $5,500 in fines and/or 15 years in prison.
