WMBF Webcast: Wet forecast and a fast food burglar

Posted: Updated:

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The Gulf of Mexico is bracing for landfall as Hurricane Ernesto approaches their shores, and the Grand Strand and Pee Dee are just hoping these showers and storms will eventually let up.

Top Headline: Ernesto strengthens and rain continues

With tropical moisture in place, showers and storms will remain likely through the day on Wednesday. Scattered showers and storms will continue Tuesday night with lows in the lower to middle 70s.

We'll likely see a wet start to the day near the beaches, and then see the best chance of rain shift inland during the afternoon on Wednesday. Highs Wednesday will be in the mid to upper 80s. Lingering rain chances will continue through the end of the week.

The Tropics: Ernesto is now a hurricane and will impact areas near the Belize and Mexico border on Wednesday. The storm will stay well south of the United States.

Top Headline: Kohlmann wins town council seat

When polls closed at 7 p.m., the unofficial results showed Beth Kohlmann received the most votes to fill the unexpired term that will end on May 13, 2014.

The Election Certification and Challenged Ballot Hearing will be held on Thursday, August 9 in Town Council Chambers to confirm total votes cast, including approved challenged and failsafe ballots.

Top Headline: Parfait burglar

An overnight burglary at a McDonalds is odd, not just because of what was taken, but because of how the suspect was found.

The burglar first tried to take one of the cash registers, but was unsuccessful. He then grabbed several yogurt parfaits out of a refrigerator before running out of the building.

He was arrested and taken to jail on charges of burglary, theft, and criminal mischief after he walked directly in front of the restaurant.
