MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk sparked resurgence in downtown Myrtle Beach. New businesses are springing up and there is talk of expanding it. City leaders are also looking at another development that could prove to be just as successful.
Consider This: This region is blessed with awesome weather and a focus on enjoying the outdoors. What has been missing is a facility that could accommodate the thousands of people necessary to host big name talent and events. That could soon change.
Discussions are underway to expand the Convention Center facilities and develop an outdoor amphitheater. The facility could accommodate more than 10,000 people and that means the acts and events that bypass our area now would have a place to perform.
It would fill a void and also serve as a catalyst for more convention activity and business development. Just like the boardwalk it is a positive addition... and Jimmy Buffett would be a nice opening act.
