ANDREWS, SC (WMBF) – Just hours after issuing a warrant for his arrest, the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office has taken a man they say committed a lewd act on a minor into custody.
Carrie Cuthbertson, spokeswoman for the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office, explains that they issued warrants for the arrest of 31-year-old Ronald Gene Blankenship Jr. of the Andrews area.
Around 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon, Ronald Blankenship turned himself in at the sheriff's office.
The incident report from the sheriff's office states that the events that led to Blankenship's arrest launched an investigation in July after the mother of 3-year-old in the Andrews area reported the suspected behavior.
Initially Andrews Police responded to the home on July 27 to the report of forcible fondling, but turned to case over to the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office after discovering where those events transpired.
The toddler's mother claims the girl was acting inappropriately and when questioned, explained that what she was doing was because Blankenship let her play with his "boo-boo spot."
She suspects the behavior had occurred once in June, and then again on the day she reported it police, and its possible it could have occurred on more occasions.
The mother continued to say that she was seen pornographic photos on Blankenship's computer in the past, of girls that could not have been older than eight years old.
Blankenship's charges have not been released.
