TIMMONSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - Witnesses at the scene of a shooting near Timmonsville gave few details on the shooter's description, and now the Florence County Sheriff's Office is looking to the public for help.

Officials with the FCSO are investigating a shooting that occurred late Sunday afternoon near a softball field close to Timmonsville.

According to witnesses, the victim was seated in the driver's seat of his vehicle while parked at a softball field when the suspected gunman walked out of a nearby wooded area.

Witnesses at the scene say the suspect fired a handgun several times into the victim's vehicle. After firing several rounds, the suspect ran back into the woods.

The victim was struck multiple times and was transported to an area hospital by EMS.  The condition of the victim is not known at this time.
