S. Kings Hwy reopens after Myrtle Beach restaurant fire

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Myrtle Beach Police have reopened all lanes of traffic on South Kings Highway between 3rd and 5th Avenue South. An early morning fire at a Chinese restaurant blocked lanes of traffic for hours.

Myrtle Beach firefighters were called to 409 South Kings Highway to battle a blaze at the Ho Wah Chinese restaurant just before 5 a.m. Wednesday. When they got there, they saw smoke coming from the building, firefighters said.

In order to attack the blaze, firefighters along with Myrtle Beach Police, had to shutdown all four lanes of South Kings Highway between 3rd Avenue South and 5th Avenue South.

Some time later, southbound lanes were reopened to traffic, but northbound lanes remain closed at this time.  Police officers are asking drivers to find an alternate route as firefighters wrap up their investigation.

At this time, there is no word on what started the fire at the restaurant or how much damage was caused by the blaze.
