LITTLE RIVER, SC (WMBF) – A Little River woman is behind bars after police say she stabbed a woman over the weekend.

The incident report from Horry County Police states officers responded to a home on Bellamy Road shortly after midnight Saturday where a woman was reportedly stabbed.

The victim claims the suspect, identified as 45-year-old Mishelle Janet Clark of Little River, had come to the home several times during the night, and she had asked her not to come back. During Clark's last visit to the home, she reportedly got into an altercation with the victim and presented a knife.

When police arrived, they noted that the victim had a stab wound to her upper chest. The victim was transported to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Shortly after the stabbing incident was reported, officers responded to a complaint at the Wilco Gas station on Highway 17 in Little River, and found the vehicle matching the description of Clark's truck.

According to a male witness on the scene, Clark had left the gas station in the car of a passerby following an argument with him.

Police were able to make contact with her and she came back to the gas station where she was taken into custody.

Booking records show Mishelle Clark has been charged with attempted murder. Her bond has not been set.
