HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Horry County Police officers rerouted traffic off of Forestbrook Road near McCormick Road Sunday afternoon as they investigated a suspicious device.
Details are very limited at this time, but a WMBF News employee witnessed a bomb squad investigating the reportedly suspicious device. The road was closed from Brookgate Drive to McCormick Road Sunday afternoon, but was reopened after the bomb squad cleared the scene.
According to the Horry County Police, a farmer reportedly found the device in a field.
Sergeant Robert Kegler, spokesman for the Horry County Police Department, tells WMBF News that the suspicious device was rendered safe by the bomb squad and it's safe to say it was a false alarm.
Kegler could not go into any further detail concerning what type of device the farmer discovered.
