CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - The Conway Police Department has arrested one of the male suspects wanted in connection with the shooting outside an apartment complex in Conway.

Catina Hipp, spokesman for the Conway Police Department, says they have arrested 22-year-old Said Vereen of Conway for attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime in connection to the shooting on the 2300 block of Leonard Avenue around 3 p.m. Saturday.

Hipp says a male victim was shot in his lower back and transported to the Grand Strand Regional Hospital Medical Center for treatment, but the extent of his injuries has not been disclosed.

The victim reported he did not know where the shots came from, but heard gunfire and was running to a friend's house when he was struck by the bullet.

Vereen turned himself in to police Thursday. He appeared before Judge Mackey and his bond was denied Friday morning.
